Costa Coffee has opened a ‘commuter-focused’ concept store at Lewisham station.

Located in what used to be the station managers office, the scaled down outlet is one eight mini-Costa’s that the coffee operator plans to open within the next six months.

The new stores are designed to speed up service with a new layout and ordering system that promises to have customers in and out of the store in a “few minutes”.

The sites will only offer takeaway and some will utilise self-service ordering touch screens.

“In today’s busy, fast paced world, our customers want to ensure they can get their Costa Coffee fix, even if they are hurrying to work, so naturally, the next evolution of a store concept had to centre on meeting the needs of busy, on-the-go commuters,” said Connie Emerson, head of global store propositions & design at Costa Coffee.
