Costa Coffee, the Whitbread-owned brand, has appointed Sarah Highfield, formerly of Tesco, as its new chief financial officer.

Highfield joins the coffee brand after 10 years with the supermarket chain, including three as its chief financial officer in Hungary.

Previous to that she was UK distribution finance director at the retailer, after a stint as a finance analyst at Mars.

At the same time, the company has appointed Emily Long as its new head of digital.

Long joins Costa after four years with Jordans and Ryvita Company, where she was most recently senior brand communications manager for the former brand.
