Cineworld has reported UK retail revenues up 10.8% year-on-year for the 26 weeks to 2 July with spend per person up 8.1% to £2.02.

The company said retail income had been positively impacted by the nature of the film mix in the first half, where blockbusters tend to attract higher retail spend per person.

During the first half of the year a new Starbucks outlet was opened at its new Silverburn cinema, with a further opening at Broughton at the start of the second half, taking the circuit total to 15.

Admissions and box office revenues in the UK increased by 2.5% and 10.5% respectively on a pro forma basis.

Globally total revenue was up 11.3% with retail increasing 12.9%.
