Chai and coffee house concept Pamban is launching in Camden Market in June.

Mayhul Gondhea, an ex-strategy analyst with McKinsey & Co. and Aruna Sellahewa, who has a background in asset management, are behind the venture.

The seven day, morning to evening cafe is 1,000 sq ft site with 37 covers and a further eight outside.

The listed brick building, formally a horse stable with wooden floors and high ceilings, has been given a Scandinavian-style design by Studio Thomas.

As well as chai and coffee, the food menu includes artisan produce from the UK and Indian Subcontinent.

Pamban is named after the island sitting between India and Sri Lanka, reflecting the ethnic origins of Gondhea and Sellahewa.
