Applegreen, the petrol station forecourt operator, saw like-for-like growth in food and store profit of 9% for the year to 31 December.

The group said 2016 had seen a strong focus on expansion in the UK with 15 new sites opened.

The group also launched a partnership with Costa Coffee, with the first café opened as part of a site upgrade in December, with a second following in February.

The company began the roll-out of Freshii during the year, as part of the expansion of food ranges at 32 of its sites.

UK revenue was up 17% for the year with food and store sales up 32.9% on a constant currency basis. On a like-for-like constant currency basis like-for-like non-fuel sales were flat.
