A new café that offers small portions of sandwiches, pastries, cakes and salad pots for just £1 could roll out if the concept proves a success.

The idea behind Caffix, in Newman Street, Fitzrovia, is that customers will mix and match with small pots and half baguettes and sandwiches. The outlet will also sell small beverages.

Founder Joe Caye, who also runs Bites Coffee House in Finchley, told Time Out London: “People in London spend a lot on lunch – not because they want to, but because they’re forced to.”

Caye said he hoped to launch Caffix as a branded chain within in London and possibly the UK if it takes off, and that he would remain committed to the £1 price point.
