A majority of branded operators (64%) have remained open for takeaway and delivery for the second lockdown, research from Lumina Intelligence reveals.

The figure compares with just 19% of operators who stayed open for takeaway/delivery and/or collection at the start of the first lockdown in March.

Lumina reports financial pressures mean it is crucial to maintain some trade through non dine-in channels now that safety measures are well practised.

The findings, taken from the Operator Data Index, reveals 13% of branded operators have been completely closed since March.

Just 35% of pub and bar restaurants remain open for delivery, with takeaway food offerings not viable for many wet-led operators.

Dessert parlours and fast food operators have the highest proportion of brands continuing to offer takeaway/collection and/or delivery well-placed for delivery and grab and go services.
