Seven in ten operators (72%) have hailed customer attitudes as being good or very good since indoor reopening.

Lumina Intelligence’s Hospitality Leaders Poll found less than half of those surveyed (48%) said trade had been good or very good since the return of indoor operating on 17 May.

Just under a quarter of those who surveyed (23%) said indoor trading had so far been poor or very poor.

Some reasons cited for poor trading include bad weather and consumers generally not venturing out until restrictions are further lifted.

A small number of respondents to the survey (13%) say they have reopened with a skeleton or barebone staff and can barely manage.

However, a majority (65%) report reopening with a near or full team.

Over three-quarters of all respondents to this survey (77%) say they are confident about the future of their business, the same as the previous week.
