The ability to host business meetings in tiers 2 and 3 areas is of “marginal benefit” to operators, a new poll reveals.
Lumina Intelligence’s Hospitality Leaders Poll found 34% of operators said the loophole, which allows different households to dine as part of a working lunch, no use at all.
A further 25% said it was of marginal benefit, while a small number said it was of strong benefit (4%) or a lifeline (3%).
Around a third of those polled, 35%, said they were not in tier 2 or 3.
Meanwhile an overwhelming majority (70%) believe the tier system is biased towards the south at the expense of the north.
A majority said the rules are easy to adhere to under the new system (62%).
The number of operators who said they were not confident decreased by 6 percentage point to 52%.
