Uber’s food delivery service, UberEats, launched in central London today at 11am.

It will initially be available in Central London seven days a week between 11am and 11pm. Operators already signed up for the service include Pho, Comptoir Libanais, Chilango, Tossed and Patty & Bun.

Uber said that more than 150 restaurants have already signed up to the service, and that it will expand to areas beyond Central London “in the coming weeks.”

UberEats is now available in 18 cities across the world, with London becoming the first in the UK and the second in Europe, after Paris.

Users can order food and track their delivery through the UberEats mobile app, or on the UberEats website.

The company said the new venture would give Londoners, restaurants and delivery partners “more options”. Uber’s food delivery service will compete against the likes of Deliveroo and JustEat.

“With UberEats, people can get great food at the touch of a button with no minimum order size,” said Alex Czarnecki, general manager of UberEats.

Delivery in London will be free for the first month, and if their food doesn’t arrive within 30 minutes, users will receive £20 off their next order. First-time users can receive £10 off their initial order by using the UberEatsLondon promo code.

“Uber has nearly two million users in London alone so we’re excited to be partnering with them for UberEATS. Their launch will benefit customers who want to enjoy our food at home or at their office by pressing a few buttons on their phone. We’re excited to see the impact UberEATS will have on our business,” said Libby Andrews, head of marketing at Pho.
