Pieminister, the pie shop operator, has confirmed it has acquired a site in Leeds close to the Corn Exchange for its flagship site that marks its most northern outpost from its Bristol headquarters.

As previously revealed in M&C, the expansion to Leeds is part of the company’s plan to grow an estate of 20 sites nationwide.

Jon Simon, who co-founded Pieminister with Tristan Hogg, told M&C the Leeds site will be the company’s flagship store in terms of size, scale and investment.

The 2,825sq ft restaurant in Duncan Street is adjacent to Red’s True Barbecue and Five Guys as well as being located in the city’s retail and leisure centre.

The premises comprise two floors, with 1,605sq ft of ground floor food preparation and sales area. It fronts Duncan Street at its junction with New Market Street, close to the Trinity Leeds shopping centre.

The company, which currently operates restaurants in London, Bristol, Cardiff, Trentham, Oxford and Manchester, is looking to grow its presence in the north of the country especially, Liverpool and Nottingham as well as a second site in Manchester.

Pieminister plans to open the restaurant in late April.
