Fulham Shore, the new restaurant venture from ex-Clapham House Group chairman David Page, which plans to introduce two or three start-up concepts and reverse private assets into it over the next two to three years, commenced trading on the ISDX Growth Market yesterday.

The company, which will trade under the ticker FS.P, has raised close to £1m so far and hopes to make its first investment in June, with a Japanese concept and a Jewish deli under consideration.

Page, who is also an investor in Franco Manca and Rocca, told M&C Report last year that, as those investments matured, they “could be reversed into Fulham Shore”, together with other one-off restaurants in which he has money invested. He is also an investor in Meatailer Ltd, the company behind Meateasy and Meat Liquor.

He also said that it was “possible we might flog 25% of the company in a year or two” as it expanded.

Page and fellow directors Nabil Mankarious (Real Greek), and Nick Donaldson (London Bridge Capital) have set up the company to become platform from which “to identify, invest in and operate a range of growth restaurant businesses in the UK, each driven by skilled and incentivised restaurant entrepreneurs and management teams”.

They believe that there are a number of potentially attractive investment opportunities within the restaurant and food service sectors in the UK and, given their collective experience in this area, they can take advantage of the opportunities which exist in these sectors and create a “profitable and sustainable business”.

The company’s investment strategy is to target businesses in the restaurant and food service sectors, which are known to and admired by the Directors, which are profitable and/or which, in the Directors’ opinion, have attractive growth potential. It will also aim to establish and develop or invest in new restaurant concepts.

In addition, the directors expect that third parties will introduce to Fulham Shore restaurant opportunities which would benefit from strategic, operational and funding support in growing their businesses and/or future access to the capital markets.
