Industry veteran Ian Neill, the current chairman of K10 and non-executive director of Jamie’s Italian, has invested in Cabana, the Jamie Barber-led Brasilian barbecue restaurant chain, M&C has learnt.

Neill, the former chairman of Wagamama, who is also an investor in Red’s True Barbecue alongside Barber, has made a material investment in the company, which recently opened sites in Manchester and Brixton.

At the same time, Barber told M&C that the company “comfortably broke through” its first £1m month (net) in October from its seven established sites not taking into account Brixton and Manchester.

On Neill’s investment, Barber said: “I am thrilled to be able to tap into his wisdom and knowledge.”

The group is targeting up to 13 further stores over the next three years in addition to the nine sites it currently owns. It has sites lined up in Watford and Southampton for next year and is in talks to open in Newcastle.

Earlier this summer, it completed a £5m equity raise to help fund its expansion.
