Jeremy King, co-founder of Corbin & King, the group behind The Wolseley and The Delaunay, has warned of “a palpable fear and uncertainty” in the hospitality industry as it absorbs the impact of Brexit.

King told the Evening Standard that three quarters of the waiting staff and chefs at his nine restaurants in the capital are immigrants, from more than 60 different countries.

“I felt humiliated and embarrassed as I tried to explain to [staff] what a mess some 17 million fellow Brits have propelled us into,” he said.

“Despite the fact that I have written twice to all of the group staff to reassure them that they are secure, there is understandably a palpable fear and uncertainty prevailing.”
