Gourmet hotdog concept Hungerdog is poised to launch a delivery kitchen in Bournemouth with a view to further sites along the south coast, MCA has learnt.

Led by Tim Mills, former operations director at Pho and Paul UK, and his wife Julie, formerly of Itsu, Hungerdog currently has one site in Camden but is now looking to the south coast’s fast-developing food scene for growth.

Mills, who is from the south coast, said they hoped to launch the Bournemouth kitchen in around a week, with Southampton to follow, and would work with Deliveroo.

He said: “Deliveroo is absolutely exploding across the south coast so that could work out very well for us

“We’re still seeking property in London, but it’s a real challenge of size and scale that’s not being taken up by the big brands

“The south coast market is really coming along. PizzaExpress and ASK have been for some time, but it’s changing feel now with operators from London starting to pop up, not necessarily brands, but concepts like chicken and burgers doing well.”

Mills said since launching last year they had tinkered with the food offer and introduced burgers, with chicken wings to follow.

He said: “While the word dog is mentioned in our name, Hungerdog could relate to any food. We’re very much open to developing the menu, and not saying no to anything.”

Mills said property agents were looking for high suitable London sites.

He said: “We know the areas we want to be in, we need high footfall, we’re not destination like restaurants. We now realise we can operator in smaller sites, and are more effective with production methods, preparation. We can be lot more flexible with anything from 200-1000 sq ft.”

Mills said he was open to other opportunities and concepts with his silent partner investor.
