Ekachai, the South East Asian restaurant group, is to launch its fifth site in the capital before the end of the year.

MCA understands that the group, which was founded in 2000 by Thomas Tjong and Sidney Tsang, has secured a site in King’s Cross for a November opening.

The group currently operates sites in Wandsworth, within Selfridges department store in Oxford Street, Liverpool Street and Flat Iron Square.

The company has a target of operating eight sites in or around the capital by 2020.

Tjong previously told MCA’s sister title BigHospitality: “I would like to open one or two sites every year and by 2020 I want to have seven or eight. They will probably all be in London but we’ve looked at areas like Oxford, just outside of the capital.”
