Ed’s Easy Diner, the fast-growing American-style casual dining chain, is continuing to strengthen its pipeline of openings for this year, with a further three sites close to being secured for its core brand.

The group, which will open its next site in Gloucester Quays on 2 July, is believed to be close to taking units at the Chapelfield Centre in Noriwch, the Harlequin Centre in Watford and the Midsummer Place shopping centre in Milton Keynes.

The company, which plans to grow at a rate of 10 per year, with 22 scheduled to be opened by the end of 2013, has already secured a further unit in Meadowhall, Sheffield and is also thought to be looking at openings in Greenwich and York.

The group is also set to open its fifth site under its Shake N’ Hotdogs brand extension adjacent to its existing unit in Swindon. It plans to open three or four more of its Shake Stands outlets this year.

Earlier this year, chairman Stephen Greene told M&C Report: “Over five years we can see another 50 to 60 units [being added]. We’ve got a good pipeline. Even in tough economic times competition for sites is tough.

“We have a pipeline of probably 15 to 20 sites at the moment, some of which are about to be signed; two to three have heads of terms agreed. We’ve even got some signed up and agreed terms for 2015 and 2016.”
