Cabana, the fledgling Brazilian concept launched last year by David Ponte, founder of the Momo and Mocoto restaurants and restaurateur Jamie Barber, has secured its third site. The group has acquired the Del'Aziz unit on the southern terrace in Westfield London. The 3,000sq ft, 130-cover restaurant will open at the end of October. The group, which is close to concluding a £3m fund raising round that will be used to fund further expansion, is actively looking for sites four and five in the capital for the fast growing concept. The new funding, which will fund “an aggressive rollout” of the brand, is believed to have been raised from a mixture of existing and new shareholders plus some bank debt. Around 80% of the new funding has come from existing shareholders, who are thought to include Jonathan Lander, chief executive of investment firm Volvere and Nick Leslau, the property investor who heads up the Max Property Group. Barber and Ponte initially raised £2.5m toward the launch of concept, which currently operates sites in Central St Giles and Westfield Stratford.
