Amazon is to begin trials of its delivery service in central London next month, MCA understands.

The company, which has already rolled out the service to eight cities in the US, has already signed up a number of operators to trial the new service, with a full launch expected in September.

At the same time, rival UberEats, which launched in the UK, in central London, last month has already expanded its operation to Zone 2 in the last week.

MCA understands that Amazon has already started to work with selected operators in regards to uploading menus to its app.

Amazon Restaurants lets you order food from the menus of partner restaurants via its Prime Now app for one-hour delivery.

Uber signed up more than 150 restaurants to its service when it launched in London last month. UberEats is now available in 18 cities across the world, with London becoming the first in the UK and the second in Europe, after Paris.
