Licensee of the Waterman’s Arms in Eaton, Gillian Bayldon-Pritchard, has acquired a second site which is due to re-open following refurbishment in early August.

The Horse and Groom in Windsor is in a prime riverside location overlooking the castle but has suffered from underinvestment in recent years, according to Bayldon-Pritchard.

She told M&C the pub is going to be completely refurbished over five days and re-opened next month as a traditional Dickensian pub serving well-presented pub food.

As a nod to its heritage, The Horse and Groom will include racing memorabilia - including a pair of racing shorts signed by Frankie Detorri – and vintage horse wallpaper.

Bayldon-Pritchard said 20,000 tourists pass the door of the pub each day and believes its potential is yet to be unlocked.

She said the new site complements the Waterman’s Arms perfectly and will fill and need in the town for a traditional pub, which the area is currently underserved for.

The menu will include traditional pub fare such as steaks, pies and fish & chips with regular specials in the evening to entice local people to use the pub as well as tourists.

The new site and the Waterman’s Arms are both Enterprise leases.
