JD Wetherspoon has put 17 of its bottom-end suburban pubs up for sale, in its largest ever pubs disposal.

The company said: "These are effectively small ex-brewery pubs which don't really fit in with where JD Wetherspoon want to be in the future.

"No way will these pubs be shut, if we don't sell them they will remain open as Wetherspoon pubs."

The pubs are spread throughout the United Kingdom, with the emphasis on the North.

The sale is being handled by Fleurets, who will not advertise or market the sites publicly, preferring to approach potential buyers directly.
