We Are Bar Group, formerly Kornicis Group, has identified the next site for it eponymous brand, MCA has learnt.

Chief executive Richard Stringer told MCA that the Saint in Paternoster Square was likely to be the next conversion to We Are Bar.

He said the first conversion - of the Jamies in Bishopsgate, which opened at the start of this month – had seen a successful launch and opened up the venue to new trading periods.

He said the group remained keen to acquire sites for the brand but this was not likely until next year and that other conversions from within the site were being considered.

The group, which was acquired in a management buy-in by Stringer and finance director Ian Banks a year ago, formally changed its name to We Are Bar Group last month.

Stringer said: “We’re very pleased with how We Are Bar has been received so far. It was a long time in the planning so it’s great to actually get it off the ground. We deliberately made a clean break with the past at that site and I think there’s a lot more to go at once people get to know about us. But we’re very pleased with the first week.

“The Saint is the obvious next choice so we’re looking at that now. We have another few under consideration and then next year we can hopefully start acquiring.”
