Wiltshire brewer and pub operator Wadworth has warned that comparatives with a strong summer last year are likely to affect trading figures for this financial year.

It comes after the company revealed figures for the year to 30 September, in which turnover rose 1.6% to £57m with pre-tax profit growing slightly from £3,987,000 to £4,318,000. Like-for-like sales for the year were up 5.5% in the managed estate with food sales growing by 10%.

Sales & marketing director Paul Sullivan told M&C:’Current performance is in line with expectation. There are strong comparisons ahead this June and July given the World Cup and access to beer gardens last year. However, the work we’ve done, and continue to do with our segmentation and skin deep projects, increased accommodation offering and beer distribution should offset this.”

EBITDA for the year September to was up 2.1% to £8.9m.
