Stonegate Pub Company has hosted its first conference for its award-winning deputy manager training programme, Accelerator.

The event, which took place on Thursday 3 April, was attended by all 90 current and former Accelerator participants, as well as guest speaker Adrian Webster and Stonegate chief operating officer Graham Jones.

The one-day conference, at Nottingham’s Hilton Hotel, brought together members of all five accelerator courses that have taken place since its launch in October 2012. The theme of the event, Accentuating the Positives, aimed to inspire new ideas.

The programme is led by success coach Jon Perkins, a former area manager for Stonegate. He said: “The conference was a celebration of the success of the Accelerator programme. Two years ago when we first discussed the idea of Accelerator, the aim was to bridge the gap between the deputy managers and general managers within our business and to offer that added extra training to our deputy managers not given elsewhere within the industry. The success of the course has now beenproven with the promotion of so many into general manager positions and who are so well-equipped to excel in the role and becoming industry leaders of tomorrow.

“As part of the course participants develop, coordinate and host several fundraising activities and events and I’m delighted to say over £39,000 has been raised by them combined since the programme started.”
