Regulars at the Warrington Hotel in Maida Vale, London, are up in arms over new owner Gordon Ramsay's plans to turn it into the first of a chain of gastropubs.
According to reports, Ramsay plans to close down the existing Thai restaurant, rip out the focal point circular bar and knock down the bar's dividing wall to form a large floor space ideal for dining.
The Warrington has a colourful history dating back to 1859, when it was rumoured to be a brothel. Ramsay bought it for £9.5m and plans to open it as a gastropub next March.
