Punch Taverns has invested £1.2m into pubs across the Nottingham area over the past year, the company has said.

Investments include £200,000 at the Golden Fleece in the city, which opened on 19 June. Other pubs to receive investments include the Keyworth Tavern, Rifle Volunteer in Kirby, Nags Head on Mansfield Road, Old Volunteer in Carlton and the Old Cross in Stapleford.

Jon Harris, partnership development manager for the Nottingham area, said: “Over the last two years, we have invested £48 million across our estate last year and we plan to invest the same this year. We own a range of pubs, varying from community locals to destination food venues, and by investing in our pubs we can create the highest quality pub estate in the UK.

We believe that pubs are the hub of the community and the cash injections create stronger business links with our licensees like Laura, as well as the local community as pubs hire local staff and source produce and beers locally - like Flipside Brewery, who have taken on the Old Volunteer as their first pub.

“We are continuing to invest in our estate and spending £300,000 at the Midland Hotel in Stapleford, which is planning to reopen mid-August.

“We encourage any readers who are looking for a business opportunity in the Nottingham area to contact us about our investment opportunities.

“Seeing the success of our pubs, we have every confidence that our operators can put these venues on the map as leading pubs not only in Nottingham but in the UK.”
