Pubs of Distinction, the London-based independent beer house group, is looking to open two new sites in early 2017, MCA has learnt.

Co-founder and operations director Phil Strongman said he hoped to have the two new sites, which have not yet been finalised, open by March 2017, ahead of the launch of its fourth site in Camden which was acquired in January 2016.

Strongman said he would like to take the group to 10 beer houses over all and would be open to further expansion in 2017 if the right sites came up.

He said: “We were one of the pioneers of craft beer and and our local beer houses have been a success and have attracted the right customer base.

“We’re still concentrating on central London zones 1-2. We like the lunchtime trade and after work trade and we’ve managed to grow the business on weekends when trade is harder to get in the city.

“We’ve proved ourselves during that Sunday trade even through we didn’t budget for it.”

Strongman said the group, which is funded by a single investor, was looking for traditional pub sites with character and soul.

The group acquired its firs site the Dean Swift in Butler’s Warf in 2010, the Old Red Cow in Smithfield in 2011 and the Hack & Hop in the City of London in 2013.
