Phoenix Pub Group, the newly-incorporated umbrella company operating c.80 pubs mostly in south east England, has secured three more sites with Enterprise Inns since announcing plans to expand. The business, which is led by managing director Declan Boyle, has taken substantive leases on Enterprise’s Northcote Arms in Leytonstone, east London, the Green Lion in Gillingham, Kent, and Ye Old Leather Bottle in Northfleet, also in Kent. Last month Phoenix, which operates mainly wet-led leased pubs, said it has given notice on 17 outlets that didn’t fit its profile and wanted to replace them “quickly with quality sites”. Operations manager Chris Cody told M&C Report that Phoenix continues to talk to pub companies about acquisitions. Phoenix is looking for sites that are capable of turning over at least 300 barrels per year and are ideally free-of-tie on wines, spirits and minerals. The business has operated since 1997 and includes a number of subsidiary firms including Premier Pubs, West Inns, London and Counties Pub Company, Tenderfoot and Enlighters - the Phoenix Pub Group was created in April 2012 as the umbrella company.
