J D Wetherspoon (JDW) is dropping prices across its menus over the first half of this month, in its January sale.

The pub operator is offering price cuts until 17 January, with drinks featured in the sale covering draught beers and ciders, spirits, soft drinks and Lavazza coffee (with free refills, as well as tea and hot chocolate).

For example, a pint of Ruddles Best will be available for 99p a pint at more than 560 of its pubs in England, while in Scotland and Wales the real ale on offer will cost £1.10 a pint due to licensing laws.

All of its 810 pubs will offer coffee and a range of soft drinks for 99p, while a pint of Carlsberg will be on sale at £1.99 a pint and Guinness for £2.89.

JDW has also reduced the price of some of the dishes on its food menu, including three breakfast items: MOMA porridge, its breakfast muffin deal and breakfast wrap deal, while the price of a 3oz burger with chips and a soft drink will cost £4.49.

Tim Martin, founder and chairman, JDW, said: “Department stores and shops hold their sales in January, so it is the perfect time to have a sale in the pub too.

He added that the business had included its biggest selection of low and non-alcoholic drinks in the sale this year.
