A pair of former Wetherspoon's employees are to capitalise on the male grooming market by opening a chain of male beauty stores. Former area manager Claire Lawrence and Nichola Donnelly, who also worked for the pub chain, have raised £500,000 to launch The Men's Store in Glasgow. The first store is in a converted Halifax bank. Now in its third week of trading, the store is thought to be the only one of its kind in the UK. The owners are hoping that men will flock to the stores to spend some of the £655m spent on male grooming in the UK. Lawrence said: "A lot of men want to be just as groomed as their wives or partners and many women also want their men to be just as groomed as they are. But generally men are more image-conscious than ever before."
