The British Beer & Pub Association (BBPA) has announced a new collaboration with VisitEngland with the aim of celebrating the Great British Pub as a tourist attraction.

The two organisations will collaborate on English Tourism Week 2015, which runs from 14 to 22 March next year. The BBPA has pledged to encourage its members to take part in the week.

BBPA chief executive Brigid Simmonds said: “With great hospitality, accommodation and entertainment, pubs are right at the heart of English Tourism. Pubs now serve around one billion meals every year and offer 50,000 rooms.  The BBPA will be encouraging all our members to celebrate English Tourism week in 2015, and offer advice on how they can get involved.”

VisitEngland’s chief executive James Berresford said: “English Tourism Week  is not only an opportunity to promote an industry worth £106bn to the economy, but it’s also to a great way to get Britons thinking of England as their next holiday destination by reminding them what’s on their own doorstep. I am delighted that the BBPA is on board and look forward to its members toasting the tourism industry in 2015.”
