Award-winning chef James Rix is selling his Fox and Hounds pub in Hunsdon, near Ware in Hertfordshire.

Davis Coffer Lyons is marketing the feeehold at an asking price of £950,000, which includes the detached three-storey character property comprising public bar and dining room seating, a large beer garden and terrace, customer parking and five bedroom owner’s accommodation.

Keith Goodwin, associate director, Davis Coffer Lyons, said: “The Fox and Hounds is a well-established business and has become one of Hertfordshire’s most celebrated and highly regarded restaurants since James and Bianca Rix acquired the property 13 years ago. A new owner will immediately benefit from the pub’s good reputation and steady stream of clientele and could further increase business by extending the opening hours to include Mondays and Sunday evenings. Due to its size and location, this property will be of interest to both public house and restaurant operators.”

Rix cut his teeth in the fine-dining scene at the Waterside Inn in Bray and La Tante Claire with Pierre Koffmann before working alongside Michelin Star rated Gary Rhodes (The Greenhouse) and Alastair Little (Frith Street).
