Whitbread is to continue the restructuring of its senior management team with the introduction of a group transformation director role.

Chief executive Alison Brittain announced the move during an analysts’ conference following yesterday’s half-year results announcement. She said the role would incorporate responsibility for “change, cost and infrastructure along with procurement, supply chain and logistics”. She said the recruitment process to bring in an external hire was already well underway.

She said: “Through this role we will seek to leverage the benefit of scale across the group to create a more efficient and productive business that can support future growth.

It follows a realignment of responsibilities within the senior management team, which has seen the Whitbread Hotels & Restaurants divisional structure removed and the accountabilities transferred across three roles. Simon Jones has assumed overall responsibility for Premier Inn and the on-site restaurants business in the UK, focussing on bringing the businesses together, investing for growth and improving customer experience.

Mark Anderson, in his role as managing director commercial and property, now reports in directly to Brittain with responsibility for property and for developing the Premier Inn international businesses.
