Pubs, bars and restaurants are being encouraged to get behind the first annual iteration of National Hospitality Day on Saturday 18 September.

The event is being organised by sector charities Hospitality Action, Springboard, The Drink’s Trust and The Licensed Trade Charity.

The event aims to support the coalition of industry charities by encouraging venues to host events showcasing the best that hospitality has to offer.

The likes of Shepherd Neame, BrewDog and ASK Italian have signed up to support the day, alongside celebrity chefs Angela Hartnett and Tom Kerridge.

Mark Lewis, chief executive of Hospitality Action, said: “National Hospitality Day gives venues the opportunity to showcase what they do best, while generating much needed footfall and revenue. By doing so, operators will also be supporting our dedicated industry charities who strive to help those workers most in need.”

Kate Nicholls, chief executive, UKHospitality – who is supporting the event – said the day would help remind customers of the intrinsic role hospitality plays in the social fabric of communities while helping to raise money for industry charities.
