The Fulham Shore has opened the doors to a newly relocated, flagship Franco Manca in Brixton. 

Located in a more prominent site opposite Brixton train station, it considerably expands Franco Manca’s local capacity, increasing the number of covers to 100.

Now part of TORIDOLL Group – the Tokyo-listed restaurant conglomerate, The Fulham Shore is looking to accelerate Franco Manca and The Real Greek’s growth trajectory.

The pub operator has opened a new site near Euston Station this week, spending £2.3m developing the former SophistiCats club on the corner of Eversholt Street and Doric Way.

The new pub will be called The Captain Flinders, after archaeologists working at the Euston station redevelopment discovered the remains of Royal Navy explorer Captain Matthew Flinders.

It will specialise in real ales and traditional ciders, as well as craft and world beers, serving a wide range of different draught ales and bottled beers, including those from local and regional brewers.

After closing its doors this month, Shake Shack Leicester Square will soon re-open later with an elevated new look. 

Shake Shack is collaborating with HATCH, London-based mural artist & illustrator Dave Smith, on a unique illustration for the building’s exterior.

 

The Breakfast Club, Soho

The “caf” concept is set to open its 15th site, in Soho in a former Patty & Bun restaurant on Old Compton street.

It also marks the brand’s fourth location in the West End.

On the menu will be classics such as Pancakes & Berries, the decadent All American Pancake Breakfast, Huevos Rancheros and more, with a wide array of breakfast and brunch dishes and a range of veggie and vegan dishes available, in partnership with LaVie & THIS sausage.

 

Young’s, Camden

 The Constitution in Camden is set to reopen in February, after it was acquired by Young’s in 2020.

The first floor will now be home to a 32-cover rooftop terrace overlooking Regent’s Canal, complete with a retractable roof for all-weather dining whilst the enclosed beer garden features new decking and lantern-style lighting.

Head Chef Jay Bond’s menus will focus on seasonal British produce from local suppliers, ranging from bar nibbles and small plates to pies and sharing seafood stews, alongside a vast selection of meatless options.

The trio behind Fallow are set to launch their next venture, Roe, in Wood Wharf, this spring.

Roe will follow the same nose-to-tail and root-to-stem ethos as its sister restaurant, with an a la carte menu divided into nibbles and flatbreads, skewers and grilled options, alongside larger plates and sides. 

Set across three floors, the 350-cover restaurant will feature a chef’s table, mezzanine PDR and terrace overlooking the South Dock canal. 

 

Alley Cats, Marylebone

The New York pizza concept has opened on Paddington Street in Marylebone, with Sicilian head chef Francesco Macri.

Offering full-size pizzas and pizza by the slice, highlights include Smoked Pepperoni dressed in tomato, aged mozzarella, habanero, and honey to Fennel Sausage with tomato, pancetta, red onion, and pecorino flakes. 

Split over 50 covers, Alley Cats Pizza will pay homage to New York, with guests able to choose from central tables or upcycled church pew-style seating.

 

Singapulah, Shaftesbury Avenue

Singaporean restaurateur Ellen Chew’s Chew on This Group will open the doors to Singapulah, showcasing Singapore’s rich tapestry culinary heritage. 

An innovative dining concept, will launch in February 2024 at 53 Shaftesbury Avenue, spotlighting 13 distinguished Singaporean food manufacturers through each dish on the chef-curated menu.

The concept introduces an array of unique Singaporean culinary ingredients and products to the UK Market.
