Amber Taverns, the operator of wet-led community pubs, has continued its expansion with the acquisition of a Leicestershire pub and the opening of a site in Derbyshire, M&C Report has learnt.

Amber has exchanged on the former Hobgoblin pub in Loughborough. On Monday the company opened the Blue Bell in Chesterfield, a former Marston’s site.

A further four outlets - in Sedgley, York, Carlisle and Ferryhill near Durham - are due to be trading by the end of the first quarter of this year, taking its estate to 95.

Amber, which is backed by LGV Capital Partners, hopes to reach 100 pubs by the end of 2014.

In addition, the group is looking to invest a further £1m in capex on beer gardens at six pubs within its existing estate, following the success of similar developments at its pubs in Leigh and Runcorn last year.
