Everyman Media Group, the cinema operator, is expected to bid for the Picturehouse cinemas that Cineworld is being forced to sell, according to The Times.

The newspaper says that the move comes as Everyman looks to launch a floatation worth an estimated £30m as it looks to double to 20 venues over the next few years.

Earlier this month Cineworld was told by the Competition Commission that it must sell one of its cinemas in each of three parts of the country. Cineworld said it “reluctantly intends” to sell the Picturehouse sites in Aberdeen and Bury St Edmunds and was “still evaluating options” about whether to sell Picturehouse or Cineworld in Cambridge.
