Dishoom has reported a jump in profit before tax, from £0.9m in 2017 to £2.3m for the 52 weeks to 30 December 2018.

Turnover for the year stood at £44.9m, up from £35.6m in 2017, an increase of 26.3% across its existing and new sites.

Dishoom opened in the historic Manchester Hall development last year – its second opening outside London – and said it will continue to look for other appropriate opportunities.

Adjusted EBITDA was £4.3m, against £2.2m in the previous period, which the directors said they considered to be a “satisfactory performance”. Its adjusted EBITDA margin increased from 6.3% to 9.6%, while its gross profit margin increased from 31.4% to 38.5%.

According to the accounts filed at Companies House the business continues to focus on increasing the quality of its customer experience, and on the retention and development of its team.

Last year it reached the milestone of having donated five million meals, through its partner charities, to feed children in the UK and India who might otherwise have gone hungry.

Last month Dishoom announced it would be taking over the adjacent space to its Covent Garden restaurant – a former Jamie’s Italian, with the restaurant to undergo a major redesign to mark its 10th anniversary last year.
