Cineworld has reported a 3.5% rise in retail revenue for the Uk & Ireland in 2018, boosted by a broader range of f&b offers.

The 3.5% increase was on statutory basis, with sales down 0.2% on a constant currency basis. In terms of the share of revenue represented by retail, it remained static year on year ay 24%.

Retail spend per person increased by 2.5% on a constant currency basis to £2.45.

The group said spend per person was positively impacted by inflationary price increases, the nature of the film mix, as well as the broader range of retail offerings, including Starbucks and our VIP offering. At the year end, the group had 32 Starbucks sites, an additional three sites compared with 2017, and two VIP auditoriums.

Compared with 2017, admissions in the UK decreased by 2.6% while box office revenue increased by 2.0% on a statutory basis (1.5% decrease on constant currency basis).

The average ticket price achieved in the UK and Ireland increased by 1.2% on a constant currency basis to £6.62.
