Next, the fashion retailer, says it plans to open “a number” of Patisserie Valerie outlets in its shops and has told M&C Report that it’s open to working with other cafe/coffee shop operators.

Patisserie Valerie has opened at two Next sites to date: at the Manchester Fort Shopping Park and at the Gallagher Retail Park in Cheltenham, with another due to open early next month at Trafford Retail Park, Manchester.

Next, which currently operates coffee shops in 34 of its 541 stores, said: “Over the coming months, a number of stores will benefit from Patisserie Valerie units.

“Next works with a number of different partners in regards to in-store refreshments. We are pleased to be working with Patisserie Valerie to bring an exciting new coffee shop to this store.”

The company’s outlets also house Costa, Starbucks and Caffe Nero coffee shops and a Next spokesman confirmed to M&C Report that the company is open to working with different operators in the cafe sector.

“We are trying to make it as competitive as we can,” he said. “This is another new partnership for the coffee shop space.”

The spokesman said he did not know how many Patisserie Valerie sites could open at Next shops.

Paul May, Patisserie Valerie chief executive, said: “I believe that the two brands complement each other well as we share the same customer base, giving shoppers the best Patisserie Valerie sweet and savoury products and delicious drinks.”
