Former Grind operations director Alex Ghalleb is launching restaurant and late night bar Gold on the site of the Portobello Gold pub.

He is launching the contemporary concept with Arez Akgundogdu, a former manager of Soho House, and chef Theo Hill, ex The Rover Café.

Dishes will be cooked in wood ovens or over open flame and served to share, with signature dishes including wood roasted whole sea bream and wood roasted cauliflower.

Designed by Felix and Valerie von Bechtolsheim, the space will be informal and open, with a stripped back aesthetic, industrial-luxe details, contemporary furniture, aged metals and indoor trees.

Set over four floors, the ground floor will have a bar and open-kitchen area, leading to a garden room with a retractable roof.

The first floor will house a further lounge and dining area and the second floor will be taken up by a private party room.
