Draughts, the board game-themed café concept, is opening a second site, at Waterloo Station, MCA understands.

The new site follows Draughts’ first site in Haggerston and will feature a games library of more than 800 games.

Draughts was founded three years ago by Toby Hamand and Nick Curci and takes inspiration from Snakes and Lattes in Toronto.

They launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the launch in Hackney, doubling their target of £10,000.

Hammond told MCA at the time: “We wanted to open one in London because there is a definite increasing trend in the popularity of board games, and we saw it as not only a business opportunity, but an opportunity to create something for ourselves, while creating jobs we will love.

“We know the concept works in other cities as there are board game cafes across Europe, Asia, America and Canada. If the cafe is very successful we may look into expanding outside of London, or even to America.”

The menu includes snacks, small plates, sharing platters, salads, cocktails, craft beer and cider.
