Pizza Hut was the most visited restaurant brand in the last quarter, according to data from Lumina Intelligence.

The brand, which includes a corporate delivery estate, as well as a standalone restaurant franchise business, together took an 11% share of all eating out occasions, during the 12-week period ending 3 October.

Meanwhile Nando’s took 9% share of eating out occasions, and PizzaExpress took 5% - an increase of 1.5ppts in the latest period, driven by more consumers returning to busier town centre and city centre locations.

Also in the top ten were Bella Italia (3%), Wagamama (3%), Frankie & Benny’s (2%) and Fridays (2%).

The findings were taken from Lumina’s Eating and Drinking Out Panel, and published in a Restaurant Report Consumer Insight Update.

The report also found dinner occasions have declined quarter-on-quarter at branded restaurants, with more consumers venturing out of home for lunch time occasions, driven by a return to the workplace.

Women and ABC1 consumers over-index in branded restaurants according to the data, presenting an opportunity to attract larger, more aspirational groups who are willing to trade up for more occasion-led experiences.

Meanwhile, share of alcoholic drinks at branded restaurants has increased to 22% in the latest period, up +6.6ppts quarter on quarter, as consumers celebrate special occasions.
