Al Cross has left his role as managing director of Market Town Taverns after less than a year in the post.

Cross’ departure means the 20-strong operator has lost two managing directors in the space of 12 months.

He joined the company following the departure of Simon Midgley, who stepped down as managing director in August 2015 to join Ossett Brewery as commercial director.

Cross had previously worked for Halewood International, where he was marketing controller for Crabbie’s. He had worked for the company since 2007 and was previously head of marketing at Global Brands.

Market Town Taverns was acquired by Heron & Brearley, the Isle of Man’s biggest hospitality operator, for an undisclosed sum in 2011.
