Dutch brewer Heineken is suing its rival InBev over a home beer dispensing system. Heineken believes that several patents involved in its BeerTender home draught system, created in co-operation with Krups, have been breached by its Belgian competitor’s PerfectDraft system, manufactured in conjunction with Philips Electronics. Heineken wishes InBev to cease selling PerfectDraft in Germany and the Netherlands, with injunction and other court proceedings scheduled to commence in early November. A Heineken company statement said: "As the owner of all patents registered for BeerTender, Heineken therefore seeks to protect its innovations against misuse by third parties." InBev and Philips replied in joint a statement of their own: "The PerfectDraft system was developed fully respecting all intellectual property rights. Heineken’s claims are without merit."
