Supermarkets and off-licences in Westminster, central London, are taking super strength lager and cider like Carlsberg Special Brew and Diamond White off the shelves in a move to combat street-drinking. The council-inspired initiative could now be copied elsewhere in the country.
Westminster City Council is also using dispersal zones to stop people gathering in public places and enforcing a borough-wide controlled-drinking zone. Street drinkers will have their alcohol confiscated.
