YO! Sushi and SSP were presented with the ‘Best Self Service/Assisted Service Concept’ award last week for their Oslo Airport restaurant at the second global Airport Food & Beverage Conference and Awards hosted in Amsterdam. The award was presented in recognition of the success since the site has enjoyed since opening in February. Designed by UK based architects DGA, the restaurant features 46 covers in an area less than 100 square metres, with a menu featuring over 15 different salmon dishes. Robin Rowland, chief executive of YO! Sushi, said: “It is a real honour to have been recognised with such a prestigious international award, especially with the particularly high standard of competition on display this year. “Winning such an accolade highlights YO! Sushi as the perfect elegant pit stop ideal for time-starved jet-setters, our successful partnership with SSP and our endless endeavour to deliver a unique fast, fun and fresh Japanese dining experience for all customers across the globe. This is an incredible achievement as we continue to expand and grow our international portfolio.” Andrew Lynch, chief executive, SSP, said: “We are delighted to have won this prestigious award for a truly outstanding brand that has proven a real winner in the travel environment. Our research showed that sushi was very popular in Oslo, and that there was a clear demand for a sushi concept at the airport. SSP and Oslo airport were keen to introduce a brand that delivered outstanding quality sushi, yet was also innovative and fun. YO! Sushi was the perfect choice.”
