Alan Yau, the founder of Wagamama, Busaba Eathai and Hakkasan, has announced he is to return to make an unexpected and quick return to the sector with a new “mono product” concept called Yamabahce.

The restaurateur announced on Instagram that he’s “back in the restaurant business” and will open his new venture, which will serve only “pide”, at 26 James Street in Marylebone, in the second week of September.

It will be Yau’s first restaurant venture since leaving the AAYA business, which oversees the Duck & Rice and Babaji Pide formats, last September.

Pide is a type of Turkish pizza.

He has since been working on a tech platform called Softchow.

In June, Yau distanced himself from having any involvement in Ichibuns, the new Japanese burger concept, which is gearing up to open in London’s Soho.
