SSP UK, the travel concessions operator, has signed a deal with Center Parcs to takeover the operation of eight food and beverage units across its four holiday villages in the UK and to develop additional concepts for its fifth site in Woburn, which will open in 2013. The company, which has operated restaurants with Center Parcs since 2007, said the entire deal will generate in excess of £110m in sales. Under the new agreement, SSP will take over and manage the Lagoon Bars at all four villages, the MADE restaurant offering at three of the parcs and the Cafe Refresh and Lagoon Bar at Whinfell Forest from early September this year. Center Parcs said it hoped the new deal would “build on the success of a four-year partnership with SSP”, which began with the introduction of The Forrester’s Inn gastroubs at its Sherwood and Elveden Forest sites. Nathan Wall, managing director of SSP UK Air, the division of SSP responsible for the contract, said: “SSP and Center Parcs share the same vision; to provide their customers with a high level of quality in both product and service. We are thrilled to be able to extend our strong working relationship with Center Parcs to continue to make this vision a reality.” Earlier this year, SSP secured a multi-million pound deal to operate five cafés and restaurants at London City Airport. Under the deal, two new cafés, including an Illy Espressamente Café and three existing outlets will be refurbished and enhanced during a programme scheduled to be completed by August.
