Soho House, the bar, restaurant and private members club company headed by Nick Jones, has teamed up with the Chicago-based restaurateur Brendan Sodikoff to open two new outlets in London’s Notting Hill.

Sodikoff, who runs six restaurants in Chicago, has teamed up with Jones to launch his first overseas ventures, the Electric Diner and Electric Donuts on Portobello Road, which will open next month.

The 75-cover restaurant will be inspired by Sodikoff’s acclaimed Au Cheval restaurant, which offers an all-day French-American menu. Electric Donuts, which is inspired by Sodikoff’s Doughnut Vault, will serve hot donuts and coffee throughout the day starting at 8am from the foyer of the Electric Cinema.

The site comprises the Electric House members’ club, the Electric Cinema and the Electric Diner in the space of the former Electric Brasserie.

Jones first came across Au Cheval on a trip to the US earlier this year, whilst researching locations for the new Soho House Chicago. He said: “I was really impressed with Au Cheval as a whole; from the restaurant’s blend of French and American dishes to the music, design and the diner’s atmosphere. I could see it working really well in West London and thought The Electric site would suit perfectly.”

Sodikoff said: “I cannot think of a more inspiring restaurateur to collaborate with and learn from than Nick whose appreciation of the arts, focus on casual luxury, passion for food and creative spirit is wholly in line with my own. I think Notting Hill is a great location for my first site outside of the US; London is one of my favourite cities and the youthful vibe of the area fits really well with the Diner’s ethos.”
